A hierarchical approach for the synthesis of batch water network

چکیده
This work addresses the problem of synthesising cost-effective batch water networks where a number of process sources along with fresh water are mixed, stored, and assigned to process sinks. In order to address the complexity of the problem, a three-stage hierarchical approach is proposed. In the first stage, global targets are identified by formulating and solving a linear transportation problem for minimum water usage, maximum water recycle, and minimum wastewater discharge. These targets are determined a priori and without commitment to the network configuration. Next, a network with minimum number of tanks is synthesised by solving a mixed-integer non-linear program. The bilinear constraints are relaxed to transform the program into a mixed-integer linear program that is globally solvable. The third stage is aimed at simplifying the network configuration by minimising the number of network inter-connections. Insights gained from the water pinch analysis are also incorporated into the approach to further reduce the water flows via the placement of water regeneration unit. A case study is solved to illustrate the effectiveness of

Intelligent identification of vehicle’s dynamics based on local model network
This paper proposes an intelligent approach for dynamic identification of the vehicles. The proposed approach is based on the data-driven identification and uses a high-performance local model network (LMN) for estimation of the vehicle’s longitudinal velocity, lateral acceleration and yaw rate. The proposed LMN requires no pre-defined standard vehicle model and uses measurement data to identif...
متن کاملA Dividing Approach for the Synthesis of Water Networks Involving Batch and Continuous Units
This paper presents a mathematical model for the synthesis of water networks, where both batch and continuous units are involved. For cases where the number of batch units is greater than that of continuous units, a dividing approach is proposed. By treating continuous operation as a combination of batch operations, the original design problem is simplified and the resultant problem is to synth...
متن کاملApplication of artificial neural network in deoxygenation of water by glucoseoxidase immobilized in calcium alginate/MnO2 composite
A three-layer artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed to predict the remained DO (deoxygenation) in water after DO removal with an enzymatic granular biocatalyst (GB), based on the experimental data obtained in a laboratory stirring batch study. The effects of operational parameters such as initial pH, initial glucose concentration and temperature on DO removal were investigated. On...
متن کاملSynthesis and Characterization of Waterglass-Based Silica Aerogel Under Heat Treatment for Adsorption of Nitrate from Water: Batch and Column Studies
In this work, hydrophobic silica aerogels were synthesized using sol-gel method and drying at ambient pressure. The surface morphology, pore size, and the presence of functional groups on the surface of the nanoparticles were analyzed using FE-SEM, TGA, FT-IR, and EDX, respectively. After calcination at 500 °C, the hydrophilic property of the adsorbents was evaluated by water contact angle meas...
متن کاملA model with policy network approach for entrepreneurship policy making
One policy making issue that needs to be addressed more effectively through an intergovernmental and participatory approach is entrepreneurship policy. Entrepreneurship is an area where interdependencies are very high, and the establishment of collaborative relationships such as networks is vital. Therefore, a network approach in the entrepreneurial policy-making process, which leads to the inv...
